Working together with the practitioner, you will be able to find the best approach to recovering and maintaining your health. Treatment is based on individual treatment programmes which are arranged as you require them. The following information provides you with an overview of the treatments available.

The treatment involves inserting very fine needles in various parts of the body. These needles are sterile and single use only which are disposed of immediately after use. As they are very fine needles insertion is often painless. Most patients find the treatment to be a relaxing and pleasant experience. Treatment may also include massage, magnets and warming the needles (moxibustion).

Acupuncture originated in China and other eastern cultures where it is still in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand alone therapy and in combination with conventional Western Medicine. Acupuncture is now widely used all over the world and enjoys increased acceptance in the UK as an effective therapy and a compliment to Western treatments and interventions.

The acupuncture practised at Acupuncture Care Clinic is based on Chinese Medicine principles that have been developed, researched and refined for over 2000 years. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used effectively for recent, chronic or recurring conditions.

TCM takes into account the whole person when addressing health issues. The signs and symptoms you have indicate the ways in which your personal system may be out of balance. Traditional acupuncture acts to stimulate the body's own healing response to restore balance and health by focussing on all aspects of wellbeing; physical, mental and emotional. Treatment is aimed at the root of the condition as well as the main symptoms.

Acupuncture Care Clinic may provide dietary and lifestyle advice in addition to your TCM treatment.

Auricular Acupuncture

This form of acupuncture is applied mainly to the ears. Treatments are a modern therapy often used for addictions, weight loss and pain management.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

I trained in Facial Enhancement Acupuncture and am part of Cosmetic Acupuncture UK . It is an organisation that trains qualified acupuncturists all around the world and is based on TCM principles.

FEA is used to enhance the overall complexion, vibrancy and skin tone of the face . The treatment aims to improve muscle tone and dermal contraction in the face and neck area. A course of treatment can significantly reduce lines and sagging skin with the needles also acting to increase collagen production. The techniques used for this treatment have been used for hundreds of years combined with more recent innovations in acupuncture. The beauty of TCM is the ability to tailor the treatment for each patient; allowing the practitioner to focus on the requirement of the individual. The focus could include:

•  Minimise lines
•  Tightening jowls
•  Reduction in frown and laughter lines
•  Minimising puffiness and bags around the eyes
•  Lift drooping eyelids and brow
•  Improve eye brightness and skin
•  Improve circulation in the skin

The treatment does more than focus on cosmetic improvement, with patients reporting improvements in overall wellbeing too. I am a great believer that if you are happy and healthy on the inside then that is reflected well on the exterior. Therefore an FEA treatment also incorporates some body and ear points to enhance the treatment. With improvement of wellbeing the eyes often brighten and skin gains a glow. Subtle differences are said to be noticed early on in treatment.

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture is sometimes referred to as Facial Rejuvenation or Cosmetic Acupuncture whilst others have labelled it the non-surgical face lift. Treatment works with the body naturally and is a drug and chemical free. The effects can be long lasting with only periodic treatments required after the course of treatment to maintain the results.

Acupressure Massage

Acupressure massage is a gentle form of treatment without the use of needles. Some techniques can be taught and used at home. For example, this treatment is often used for inuction or to help with management of labour.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy involves the use of glass or plastic cups on the skin and is traditionally used as a detox treatment. Cupping can also be used for a deep tissue massage and is popular as a treatment to reduce cellulite.
