Working together with the practitioner, you will be able to find the best approach to recovering and maintaining your health. Treatment is based on individual treatment programmes which are arranged as you require them. The following information provides you with an overview of the treatments available.

The treatment involves inserting very fine needles in various parts of the body. These needles are sterile and single use only which are disposed of immediately after use. As they are very fine needles insertion is often painless. Most patients find the treatment to be a relaxing and pleasant experience. Treatment may also include massage, magnets and warming the needles (moxibustion).

Acupuncture originated in China and other eastern cultures where it is still in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand alone therapy and in combination with Western Medicine. Acupuncture is now widely used all over the world and enjoys increased acceptance in the UK as an effective therapy and a compliment to Western treatments and interventions.

The acupuncture practised at Acupuncture Care Clinic is based on Chinese Medicine principles that have been developed, researched and refined for over 2000 years. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used effectively for recent, chronic or recurring conditions.

TCM takes into account the whole person when addressing health issues. The signs and symptoms you have indicate the ways in which your personal system may be out of balance. Traditional acupuncture acts to stimulate the body's own healing response to restore balance and health by focussing on all aspects of wellbeing; physical, mental and emotional. Treatment is aimed at the root of the condition as well as the main symptoms.

Acupuncture Care Clinic may provide dietary and lifestyle advice in addition to your TCM treatment.

Auricular Acupuncture

This form of acupuncture is applied mainly to the ears. Treatments are a modern therapy often used for addictions, weight loss and pain management.

Acupressure Massage

Acupressure massage is a gentle form of treatment without the use of needles. Some techniques can be taught and used at home. For example, this treatment is often used for induction or to help with management of labour.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy involves the use of glass or plastic cups on the skin and is traditionally used as a detox treatment. Cupping can also be used for a deep tissue massage and is popular as a treatment to reduce cellulite.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a natural treatment that uses varying massage tools to scrape the skin in short and long strokes. This stimulates the microcirculation of the soft tissue and increases blood flow/circulation. It is used on areas such as the back, neck, legs and arms and treats ailments that cause chronic pain such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and muscle and joint pain. It can also be used in a more gentle form for cosmetic facial treatments.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture involves the insertion of tiny needles into varying areas of the face and the body. It naturally helps the skin look smoother, firmer and healthier. Problem areas such as crows feet and frown lines can be targeted. The insertion of the needles cause a micro-trauma which in turn stimulates collagen production.

Various A listers such as Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow and Katie Perry are all advocates of the procedure.
